Exactly. The argument that Martínez is “too old” doesn't really hold up if Chelsea fans are simultaneously asking for experience to be added to the squad.
The better question is: what kind of experience are you actually asking for? If you want a proven goalkeeper who has played at the highest level, Martínez fits that profile. His age may be a factor in the long term, but dismissing him simply because he's older ignores the immediate value of experience and leadership.
And if you don't want Martínez, that's fine but he's old isn't much of an argument by itself.
