For 21 days straight, @MUNMed learners have conquered Signal Hill for their fundraiser Hills for Humanity for my therapy. They are doing such an altruistic act, I am amazed at the comradery towards a fellow learner. Please RT and donate if you’re able: https://t.co/IXS0CSpt84
Telehealth interpretive services through RIO already exist in Eastern Health. @MUNPDoA is calling for expanding these services to all NL health authorities, family medicine and specialty clinics, and pharmacies.
Interpretation services improve therapeutic relationships and communication between newcomer and non-English speaking patients and healthcare providers. Better communication = better health outcomes… and better population and economic growth for NL.
Once again, would like to thank Hon. @PerryTrimper for sharing your time with us today (and for showing us around the legislature). Excited to keep the discussions going! #PDoA@MUNPDoA
Had the pleasure of speaking with Hon. @PerryTrimper this morning on the importance of expanding interpretation services in NL healthcare facilities with #PDoA delegates from @MUNMed@MUNPDoA
Expanding interpretation services is an ultimately cost-saving target that aligns with the welcoming values NL is known for across Canada and beyond. Taking care of our newcomers increases the likelihood of them staying in NL and contributing to our community and economy.
It was a pleasure to work alongside my classmate Rachel and the PDoA team to write this Op-Ed and advocate for better access to mental health & addiction services and harm reduction principles in NL!
Look at all these smiles from our meeting with @TonyWakehamNL! Our members @simal_q, @ShaelynnLBarry, @_JakeStillwell and Justin met up with the Honourable Tony Wakeham today to discuss our asks. Shout out to all involved! 😊
I enjoyed another great meeting with our brightest young Med School graduates. Each year they host a Provincial Day of Action. This year the focus is on Mental Health and Addictions and the stigma attached. Thank you so much for a very informative presentation. #MUNPDoA
It’s about shifting the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” and “How can we help?”
Enjoyed a productive discussion this morning with the Honourable @DinnPaul about implementing accessible harm reduction services in NL. @MUNPDoA#PDoA2022
Our meeting this morning with @DinnPaul was a HUGE SUCCESS! Our committee members @OliviaPenney11, @_JakeStillwell, @MHickey98, and @LaurenStringer_ met with the Honourable Paul Dinn to discuss our asks to further accessibility for mental health services.
Thank you to all! 🙌
PDoA is off to a wonderful start! 4 of our PDoA members met with @SarahlStoodley today to discuss
- mental health and addictions training for frontline workers
- community mapping
- naloxone kits & accessibility
Great job to all involved! 👏
