Ylikoulutettu metsurin raato 🌲
Tupajumien oikeudet ja elämäntyyliin kiinnostaa. Pimeässä heijastittomat henkilöt ärsyttää. Liian Hapannelda kaikkea kohtaan.
@ToikkaJyri@inarimetsaa Olisiko maanomistaja esim. kyllästynyt palstallaan oleviin irtokoiriin. Näyttää todella hyvältä ulkoilureiteillä, mutta koirien irti pitämiseen tarvitsee yksityisenmailla luvan.
What the Night Sky on Mars may look like!
There's no twinkle. Twinkling is what air does to light, and there's barely any air.
So millions of stars just sit there. sharp. silent.
For the first time in English, Tove Jansson’s enchanting illustrations for The Hobbit are being published in a new edition celebrating 90 years of Tolkien’s classic.
Jansson, best known as the creator of the Moomins, originally illustrated a Swedish edition in 1960. Her whimsical artwork will finally be available to English-speaking readers when the book releases in September (UK) and October (US) 2026. 📚✨
@TeemuK9 Mielenkiintoista olisi tietää mille elon'in listalle olet joutunut, koska häviät säännöllisesti twiittivirrastani. Ja tuskin olen ainut 🤔 Toki kissapäivitykset ovat hyvinkin radikaaleja ja uhkaavia tämän kaiken muun seassa mitä virrassa tulee vastaan 😆
Voyager 1 is 24 billion kilometers from Earth.
It communicates with us using a 23-watt transmitter.
Less than a refrigerator light bulb.
The signal takes 22 hours to reach us, traveling at the speed of light.
By the time it arrives, it's 20 billion times weaker than the power of a digital watch battery.
NASA's Deep Space Network picks it up using 70-meter dish antennas cooled to near absolute zero to reduce electronic noise.
The engineering required to hear a 23-watt signal from 24 billion km away is arguably more impressive than the spacecraft itself.
Launched 1977.
Still transmitting.
Still being heard.
We built something that works perfectly, 47 years later, in conditions no one has ever tested in.
That's what engineering for the long term looks like.
