“This is the uncomfortable part for U.S. policy makers. Restricting a leading American model may reduce some immediate access risk, but it can also push developers toward Chinese models that are cheaper, open-weight or easier to self-host. More to the point of national security, Axios reported that China’s GLM-5.2 is raising cyber concerns in part because open-source models can be downloaded, modified and stripped of safeguards. The policy lever, in other words, may bend in two directions at once. It can slow U.S. model access, while also it can make foreign alternatives more attractive.”
@martin_casado Now the question for me is what kind of chilling effect this has on enterprise dependencies on frontier models, if any. Does it drive more sovereignty demand, reduce confidence in Ant, accelerate OS, etc.
The precedents set in the UK around free speech are tragic for their country and people. As someone who dedicated over 6 yrs to understanding the worst behavior online, I disagree with what is happening in the UK and worry about its spread to other democracies that rely on free speech.
Banning someone from a platform is different than putting someone in jail.
I dont know why Content Fill AI for video was not available in @Adobe suite.
So I made it as a plugin and it’s open-source for After effects!!

Super easy Installation in two click for Mac and PC, it’s using @FAL .ai api for the generation.
Two mods are possible :
- Content fill from mask using Wan 2.1 ( more precise ! )
- Content fill from prompt using Wan 2.2 ( less precise, better quality!)
It’s still a prototype and it’s possible that you encounter some bug, that is why I also made it open for now. But could be cool to develop that with much more functionalities !
For automatic download of the final file it’s working good on Mac, but on Pc it will show a popup to download it manually.
@martin_casado Software is transitioning from features to behaviors and personalities where everything is fluid. Boxed software -> CI/CD -> intelligent systems. I’m surprised we’re still talking about features.
My hot take response is that this has always been inevitable. First mover advantage for AI is unlike any other industry in history. I think we’re ~a year away from a monopoly conversation about OpenAI.
The only really viable differentiation I see is in how companies are applying moderation and censorship. True creative freedom platforms still have a leg up on OpenAI and Google but will have to suffer the unwanted dumpster of fraud, abuse, and porn.
I was on a call a few nights ago with a number of very senior devs. And every one of them used AI to code, and found it faster than working with junior devs.
It’s really worth thinking through what that means for the industry. Would love thoughts.
Calling all Bay Area aspiring teen filmmakers! My good friends and the team behind A24’s Last Black Man in San Francisco, (Sundance Best Directing Award Winner), Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, and an award winning crew are running a filmmaking camp this summer. Applications are open now and it looks like it’s going to be incredible. Prioritizing Bay Area kids to tell Bay Area stories, but open to storytellers everywhere. https://t.co/zNrZ3ppHZb
