Today, during #HRC54, Pakistan delivered a Joint Statement on behalf of a cross-regional group of 24 countries on “Promoting a Human Rights Responsive Global Economic Governance System”.

The statement, inter alia, highlighted the need for reform of international financial architecture and requested @UNHumanRights to develop actionable recommendations for relevant states, IFIs and global trading, taxation and investment regimes.

It also called upon @volker_Turk to initiate a regular dialogue with these institutions to develop appropriate policies, programs and strategies that better foster realization of economic and social rights and achievement of SDGs.

The resolution condemns public and deliberate acts of desecration of the Holy Quran and aims to initiate an urgent conversation and a process to prevent and counter the growing scourge of religious hatred.
