@markwolters54 I saw him in Chicago in '78, the night before my 20th birthday. The first set was mind blowing in a WTF way. A little alcohol helped the second, but it was still a strange experience. A local writer sarcastically called Billy Cross "the hottest picker in Skokie, a Chicago suburb.
@NickFreiling Worship needn't be overt, and the worshiper didn't recognize their worship. But I think the word accounts for the way we fall for politicians, or gurus, or pop stars.
@AlexToropoc@romanhelmetguy OK, thanks for the reference. A better way of saying that is that lack of empathy by the rich and the royals spurred those who did empathize, or were themselves sick of being used, to unnecessary and therefore unjust violence.

@RaySuarezNews I respect your position but I disagree. It shouldn't be taught as a holy text (and I believe it is), but it should be taught as history and literature. Whether we like it or not, it has formed us.
