So after having a chance to really watch this half of an hr compilation of Baleba.. I have a few thoughts. We have signed a potential star. But still.. Potential.
For me.. The main determining factor of a number 6/ DM is their ability to make a tackle & win the ball after chasing down an opposition runner/ after chasing a player gone beyond. Are you still able to tackle with the same intensity (see Ugarte after chasing back.. The tackle is weak because the legs are tired in the short burst). Baleba can do this. Very well.
On Baleba:
- He is still raw and needs coaching
- Very good dueler when there's body contact
- Struggled with duels when he's got to hunt or chase due to diving in
- Will be caught in possession alot until he's more mature. His scanning doesn't absorb enough of the picture sometimes
- Idea and choice of passing is quite good. Always looks to pass to runners or release them early. Doesn't shy away from a diag, forward pass, long pass
- Uses both feet enough. Left footer normally don't leave space for right foot.. But he seems to use to whenever the need and doesn't mind
- Is very aggressive when he tracks or presses. But he tracks back with 100% in his legs.
- Has physical build that allows him to make up for an error and recover.
- He has enough personality to play for Man Utd. But concentration is still needed. 100% tuning in.
- His personality shows in his flair. Uses his flair well & to reset himself.
I think he does well if he's influenced and coached well. There are some habits in there. But overall this is a player that we've needed in terms of his understanding of his position, his physical attributes and his application.
For reference overall..as a player, Kobbie Mainoo is much much more polished and ready player than Baleba. You can see in the security in possession too.
But they will do well together.

If an English player fouls, they call it grit and heart. If an Argentine or a South American does it, they are called dirty. The Dutch talk all of that talk before the game and they are called confident. Argentina react and they're called disrespectful. Haters gonna hate. ๐ฆ๐ท
