CISL's sustainable HQ, the Entopia Building won *two* awards at the Greater Cambridge Design & Construction Awards 2023.
Our CEO @ClareShine_CISL says in @businessweekly:
“To win the David Mackay Award for Engineering and Sustainability is a great privilege.”
We exist in both our natural & built environments. When we talk about making better places, we're really talking about ensuring future environments for humans. You can't talk about built environments without talking about the natural environments in which they sit and co-exist.

When recently discussing 'returning to the office', in the past week I've had no less than 4 women (and it's only been women) express to me how nice it is to go back to the office, but the laundry is getting out of hand. Sometimes modern society doesn't feel particularly modern.
Question time! Who do you think is/has been doing big, important, influential, successful things in 'sustainable built environment'. From any discipline/background. I want to know what I'm missing!
@ebb_boards How to calculate value? Total project cost or project percentage? Over what timescale? For who? For context, I had been discussing people who get additions to their homes without 'design' input, creating overheating boxes, unaware of orientation, no renewables, dull interiors....
Following the completion of #EntopiaCambridge we’re proud to share the lessons we’ve learnt, from the ways that it's #buildingchange, to how the building is performing against targets. Everything you need to know, in a short report, read here:

📝 What we learnt from the retrofit of #EntopiaCambridge: this immersive, interactive story takes you through the journey from why this is no ordinary project, through to how the finished building looks on the inside. 🏡

❓Did you know: #EntopiaCambridge saved 21,000kg of embodied carbon by using reclaimed materials, such as the solar panels on the roof, held up with repurposed lighting rigs originally used on the set of a Marvel film! 🦸♂️⚒️🐝
Great to see #EntopiaCambridge featured in @RIBAJ today.🏡 The article explores the triumphs and challenges of deep retrofit, from strategic definition to construction. Read the article from @eleanoryoung 👇

Forward thinking offices will learn how to accommodate ALL of their types of workers to get the best out of them as individuals while still getting the best out of the collective. That's the real secret to the future of work.
Some older folks like the tradition of working from an office & some have nice homes with home offices and want to work from home. Some young people prefer the digital nomad lifestyle (no office) & some live in teeny shared spaces and need an office. Can we stop stereotyping?!
Some people mentally prefer to work in communal environments and some don't. I wish we'd move on to finding nuance in the future of work instead of trying to paint everyone with the same brush (which never works!).
