@takapodigs and the #kakapo army. Sorry to have neglected you all by not posting here. I'm adding some clips and stills from our upcoming film to help everyone get through isolation. Today's bit of the outdoors indoors is the attack kakapo. Be safe and be kind! Like a kakapo.
Dear Public,
The quality of medicine in the UK is being diminished by the imposition of poorly educated and trained PAs. It should be stopped right now.
@wesstreeting
Competition ratios getting worse
Doctors out of jobs
While public can’t see doctors on time
Meanwhile?
@NHSE_WTE continuing with PA plan -roles which financially can’t survive without replacing doctors
Do you folks have like any ..strategy apart from
“Fill out a survey”
@simondunphy2@itvnews@BeccaBarry If you knew any doctors you'd know that they really really care about patient safety, which is what this is all about! PAs are under -qualified and don't know what they don't know. They are also a waste of money as they are paid more than a Dr!
The PA role is the worst thing to happen to both patients and doctors
Someone with 2 years basic training, being used interchangeably with a doctor of 6-10 years training, except more expensive
Hi @CHFTNHS, aren’t you aware of NHS guidance on this?
☠️
@FlyAirNZ There are two direct flights between Invercargill and Wellington per day, please don't ditch both, leave us with ONE direct flight a day like we have with AKL. Having to go via CHC will mean the route is even less popular- the 6.30am flights is always busy!
The misuse of PAs at @AlderHey that @Mike88881221 is uncovering is just shocking.
Physician Associates, unregistered and unregulated, performing the first (only?) forensic medical examination in child protection cases, where children have been abused, despite knowing 1/5
It’s no secret what the NHS needs:
- increase bed capacity by 20,000
- increase primary care capacity by 50%
Total cost = ~£12b
Total amount the private sector took out of the NHS last year = £12b
Yes, it’s a political choice!
The solution to the NHS problems is not in finding cheaper replacements of doctors.
But to retain doctors & improve working conditions for doctors.
RCGP governing UK Council has today voted to oppose a role for Physician Associates working in general practice.

Want to diagnose, assess, manage cancer patients?
Doctors:

4-5 years oncology training
FRCR exams
CCT
PAs:
1 week of oncology lectures
🤔
@JanetEastham@ShaunLintern@carolvorders 700 ANAESTHETISTS without jobs - but they're employing ASSOCIATES!! This is terrifying for patients, anesthesia is incredibly complex & one of the most difficult specialties. A PATIENT SAFETY SCANDAL!!!
‘There is plenty of work for everyone’
700 anaesthetic specialists without a job in 2021 alone because funding for their training had been cut.
At the same time rapid funding increases to expand non-doctor Anaesthetist Associates to replace actual doctors. 🤔
@RCoANews
@geshNHS remove this job advert immediately!
THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR CANCER PATIENTS!
No experience necessary in oncology ?
What local medical training and exams would a PA have to undergo to allow them to do this work ?
Where is the local training plan?
@ClinOncDoc@parthaskar
I find this response disgusting from @gmcuk
Is there a way we can get this lack of transparency discussed in parliament?
Anyone know if a petition of some sorts may help?
If we have enough signatures perhaps @wesstreeting has to answer Doctors & Public than ignore ?
Ex FPA president Saunders asks for an urgent meeting with Charlie Massey - CEO of @gmcuk
Wonder how many doctors have access close to this to the GMC?
A reminder - there’s many doctors who have been asking for simple raw data of a survey that was done over 100 days ago. Just that would be awesome
