I couldn't agree any more with this take. A mid/low end computer will play every PC release up to the ps3/360 era. It will also allow you to emulate all classic console releases (if you don't own the original hardware).
Affordable mainstream high-end consoles look to be over. PlayStation is moving away from physical media. Xbox - well, who knows what the hell Xbox is at this point. High end PC gaming will become even MORE niche.
The future, for me, is Nintendo and Retro. Last month I bought a Windows XP PC. 50 quid. A bargain. And it’s fantastic. The truth is, the past is a beautiful place. Example - Bethesda will never improve on Morrowind. That’s not going to happen now, the way games are made. The necessary expense, and the time, to make something so special? It’ll never happen. Unless AI is used, to make some soulless parody. But Morrowind still exists, in the past, and the present. I was replaying it just last night on WINDOWS XP.
Gaming is changing forever. But the past still exists!
Virtua Racing for the arcade (Sega/1992).
Another praised technical marvel by the AM2 team, it helped to introduce 3D polygon graphics to a wider audience - a technology that was, up to that point, still restricted to the home computer niche and flight simulation industry.
It's a bit short since it only contains 3 tracks, but its smoothness and responsive controls make up for that.
This humongous news seems to be going under the radar. We have a working emulator for Sega's Model 1. It plays Virtua Fighter without the collision issues that plague mame. Check out WANGMODEL1:

@alemaunzinhuu@XboxSupport Indeed. Nearly all of my backwards compatible games have this issue 😞 Some of my saves are getting on for 20 years old so starting again just isn't an option.
@ShepardKryik@XboxSupport Nearly every bc game shows this message for me but the saves work fine on the 360.
This only happened after I ran a factory reset on my Series X.

The Unreleased Over The Top Soccer for Dreamcast (Soccer 2K2), available for download below—could it have competed with EA’s FIFA? If Visual Concepts’ NFL 2K and NBA 2K managed it, why not this one!👇
