During my PhD there has been:
1. A global pandemic
2. A major flood in our building displacing us for 2 months
3. A network/internet outage on the first day of a new semester
To be fair the last one has the shortest and smallest impact on me, it's just...wild.
@DrRituRaman The Flyaway to Union Station and then the train, or maybe the Fly Away to Van Nuys and then a ride share to save time. FlyAway to Van Nuys is always 45 minutes no matter how bad the traffic is, it’s crazy.
Tomorrow's (Thur, July 19, 3pm CST) the big day for @sgmoshage - she will be presenting her PhD defense on the effect of exercise when young in a lovely dual-benefit equine model. Excellent work on multi-scale mechanics. DM for a zoom link.
Another article celebrating Gilbert Strang – SIAM member, Fellow, former President, and a revered #mathematician – as he retires from @MIT! SIAM is honored to distribute his textbooks, which have impacted countless students. Best wishes in retirement, Gil!

I refuse to fill out a form saying whether or not I am striking, that was not part of my contract. I filled out my effort certification, which is a regular requirement.
Two storms in two weeks is a reminder: Public utilities like water, gas, and electric should be provided by government, not private companies more interested in profit than storm preparation.
Oh and internet should be considered a public utility.
Universities: Please stop installing glass, partially reflective white boards. They don't work and decent dry erase markers look dead on them. At this point I would rather have a chalk board. #AcademicChatter#AcademicTwitter
Looked at my first HW from a little over two months ago and completely forgot that I wrote a ReadME for my code. Takes so little time for me to forget things...

This happened in Japan. Yes they were recording the descent already and happened to approach a cub with the adult above.
Major props to @Delta for finding us 3 different planes last night and for the fast meal voucher after the first mechanical delay. The crew was really nice and had a good attitude and humor about the situation.
