Many think synthetic meat is good because factory farming contributes to the extensive suffering and death of many tens to hundreds of billions of animals every year, or extensive environmental impacts, making exploration of alternatives worthwhile. Many think AI is bad because they believe it has outsized environmental impact via water or energy use, they view training as theft, because of its ability to create misinformation/scams, to more easily create non consensual pornography, to more easily allow cheating in education, etc.

Neither of these positions are in contradiction. About the only reason they would be is if the only determinant was whether or not either was “natural” which I suppose both aren’t. But that’s an incredibly stupid thing to base your position on which most people holding them don’t.

Honestly, the older I get, the more I realize that the left has always been right that we can have nice things, but liberals and conservatives keep throwing up roadblocks and making up lies to convince people that they should be living with struggle and discomfort so that politicians and business leaders can enrich themselves. We can have easy, universal healthcare. We can have easy, universal childcare. We can have reasonable grocery prices and better, shorter work weeks. We do not have these things only because the lack of them makes political donors rich.

It’s wild how we absolve the 9-to-5 of all guilt. The damage is systematically rebranded as your personal failing.

Got fat? It’s not that jobs require 10 hours at a desk, it’s your "sedentary lifestyle".
Ruined eyes? It’s not the workflow, it’s your "screen time".
Feel empty? It’s not the grind, it’s just "adulthood".

The job causes the problem, but you take the blame. The 9-to-5 is treated as some unchangeable default of nature we all must bow to.

Estar en contra de que Trump ande matando gente en lanchas sólo porque "cree" que son criminales o queriendo intervenir en otros países NO REQUIERE justificar o defender a Maduro.
