Important research by the @pewtrusts shows that 4-6 storey apartments with a single fire stair do not put residents at any greater fire risk (as compared to 2 stairs)
Single stairs are also cheaper, and could allow much more housing to be built!

Incredible pro housing bill filed today at the Texas Legislature by @CodyforTexas .
The bill would allow 3rd party Engineering firms to review permits and conduct inspections on new home developments by right.
Applicants would have the right to either have the City, or a 3rd party engineering firm review their plans. Applicants would still need to meet all local, State and Federal laws.
But imagine the free markets power being used to clear permit backlogs, while pushing down the cost of inspections and reviews.
Quick example:
The City of Austin charges $10,000+ to apply for simple subdivision requests, and takes 1 year to review the plans.
A private engineering company might charge $4,500 to apply and take 6 weeks to review the plans.
Thereby reducing the cost of housing by time and money.
If we want housing to be more affordable, this is a great no nonsense way to achieve that.
The world needs to see this. Met this guy at the bar on Saturday. Ball knowers find ball knowers telepathically. An hour later we exchanged numbers. Now weโve been tossing names back and forth all week and saying where they went. I know youโre here somewhere brother
Taking inspiration from uniforms worn in the 70s and 80s by the Green Wave, these jerseys not only celebrate Mardi Gras and New Orleans, but pay homage to the 50 year anniversary of Coach Brockhoff's first season Uptown.
