In a report published on Thursday, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) says that the Burkinabe authorities have a group of highly influential cyber-activists at their disposal on social media: the Rapid Communication Intervention Brigade (BIR-C).

“The group dominates the digital landscape and targets dissenting voices with total impunity,” said RSF, describing it as a “swarm that stings anyone who dares to criticize Captain Ibrahim Traoré.”

🚨Breaking 🇧🇫- Burkina Faso Criminalizes Homosexuality.

At Wednesday’s ministerial session, the government adopted a decree to criminalize homosexuality. In fact, the practice is forbidden 🚫 in our country. Here’s what the minister of justice Mr Edasso Rodrigue Bayala announced:

“From now on, homosexuality and similar practices are prohibited and punishable by law.”

Well, I guess the so called human rights violations activists, organizations and all the western countries that condone this practice will start all their noises on my country.

Remember how they attacked Uganda after @KagutaMuseveni signed the criminalization of homosexuality? But who cares? Do we really care what they think or say about us?

Sometimes, I ask myself why doesn’t the west go to the Arab nations and demand them to legalize homosexuality, but it is in Africa that they come to flex their muscles and even dare to impose sanctions on us if we don’t do what they want?

Africans need to respect themselves and impose respect. These people have to understand that their liberty stops where ours begins. In other words, they shouldn’t try to impose on us their debase morals with which we don’t associate with. If they want to practice it where they are fine, but trying to impose it on us, we say no. This is where we draw the line.

I leave you with these words of the late President Robert Mugabe at the UNGA in 2015:

“We equally reject attempts to prescribe new rights that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions and beliefs. We are not gays.”

Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has strongly declared that Sharia law, the traditional Islamic legal system based on the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, will never be adopted in the country.

He emphasised that Burkina Faso will remain a secular and sovereign nation, with no religion placed above the state.

“I am a Muslim and I practice my faith freely,” he said. “Everyone else has the full right to follow their own beliefs.”

He also urged Burkinabe students studying Sharia in Saudi Arabia not to return, questioning why around 1,000 of them had chosen religious studies over acquiring trades or technical skills to help develop the country.

News: Opposition coalition, #OLF-#OLA dismiss National Dialogue as ‘mock process,’ call for unified front against government

In a statement released this week, the #Ethiopian Cooperate for Victory and Transition (#ECVT)—an opposition coalition—described the National Dialogue as a "mock dialogue" incapable of resolving #Ethiopia's deepening political and security crises.

The coalition argued that while national dialogue is internationally recognized as a mechanism for peaceful conflict resolution and political transition, the process underway in Ethiopia "fails to meet international standards" because it excludes key armed actors, lacks broad public legitimacy, and rejects discussions on political transition.

The statement follows a similar position taken by the #Oromo Liberation Front-Oromo Liberation Army (OLF-OLA), which on July 19 dismissed the National Dialogue as a "national monologue."
