Whatever Christa Pike did, Tennessee strapped a living woman to a table and tried to Murder her last night.

They stuck her with needles again and again.

They pumped her full of enough pentobarbital to execute a horse

Then they waited for her to die.

She didn’t.

Today, an American Woman is lying in a hospital in critical condition while politicians discuss investigations, new protocols and how the government might do a better job murdering the next person.

Read that again.

The State tried to Murder a restrained human being.

It failed.

Doctors then had to try to save the same life the State of Tennessee had just deliberately tried to end.

If that sentence doesn’t make you uncomfortable, ask yourself what exactly the word “government” changes about murdering a defenseless person.

You can despise what Christa Pike did to Colleen Slemmer.

You can demand that Pike spend the rest of her life behind bars.

None of that requires cheering while the State straps an American woman to a table, fills her veins with poison and waits for her heart to stop.

This is what the death penalty actually looks like when you remove the sterile language.

Not “justice.”

Abolish the Death Penalty.

…except in cases of High Treason and War.

Death penalty is also premeditated murder. I don't understand why it's not ok for 1 party and for the other it's considered 'justice'.

Breaking: Tennessee’s Governor Bill Lee has ordered all death row executions to be put on hold after the state failed for the second time in 5 months to execute a death row inmate.

Christa Pike is still alive and currently in the hospital after receiving two lethal injections.

Witnesses in the room report that Pike could be heard snoring and gasping for air for more than an hour after the lethal injections were administered.

At one point she screamed that there was a spot in her arm that was “burning and felt like it was about to burst open.”

This is barbaric and inhumane especially considering research indicates capital punishment does not deter crime more effectively than life in prison.

Abolish the death penalty.

I'm anti-death penalty for so many reasons. And in all seriousness, why did they fight to revive her? Why is she on a ventilator? TN state BETTER be commuting her sentence.

What happened to Christa Pike is exactly why the death penalty shouldn’t exist.

This isn’t about whether she deserved sympathy. She committed a horrific murder and her victim deserved justice.

It’s about whether we should give the government the power to deliberately kill its own citizens — and then pretend there is some clean, clinical, humane way to do it.

Tennessee strapped a woman to a table, pumped her full of enough pentobarbital to kill her, realized she was still alive, pumped her full of more — and she still didn’t die.

Then the protocol basically ran out of instructions.

She was left unconscious, audibly breathing and snoring, before eventually being taken away in an ambulance.

If the state is going to claim the extraordinary power to kill someone in the name of justice, there can’t be an acceptable margin of error.

There is no undo button for an execution.

And yesterday Tennessee demonstrated, in the most horrifying way possible, that the government cannot even guarantee it knows how to carry one out.
