What did it for me was this.

1. Have a system. What I mean is have a list of things you want to see on every asset you analyse from bias down to entry and exits.

This can only come from seeing the said setup play out more times than you can count. If you're backtesting, backtest that checklist alone across multiple pairs.

Backtesting alone would give you that confidence that it has worked in the past, so it can work in the future too.

2. Since backtesting isn't always enough, you would now want to apply what you've observed in real time right? You might not be confident in taking those risks fully yet so what do you do?.

You can get a separate account. For example a 5K account for testing it out and what you're doing isn't risking 1% or 0.5% because your aim for this account isn't passing it (for now) but it's getting live data.

So you risk as low as $5-10 on the same checklist you backtested. It might seem counter productive but remember the aim? It's to build confidence so it shouldn't bother you much. In taking those trades with barely significant risks, the pressure of executing is reduced and you get to ease into it.

You get to see how your checklist works in real time and get a lot of data from it as well and eventually you're not thinking over a setup for too long.
Why? Because you have data that backs you up now and you've executed using little amounts so you're used to it already.

3. Since we tend to believe what we have seen happen repeatedly so we get comfortable with that and it's easier to go with that. So you just have to repeat that checklist consistently and increase your risk.
