Also should have known this would happen when they stopped sending the 2014 phb to lgs's. New players around my area haven't had the chance to get a physical phb for months. So the only way to play with 5e as a new player was to download ddb.

Nevermind. Currently it doesn’t seem to work this way and even if you’re making a 2014 character the spells won’t be available unless you homebrew.

Literally just make a toggle switch in the character builder, just like using other sources.

Physical media is almost a Fahrenheit 451 (where people memorized entire books and thus became the book they loved) level of responsibility. If you own a great 4K HD, Blu-ray, DVD etc etc of a film or films you love... you are the custodian of those films for generations to come.
