I really enjoyed Masters of the Universe when I watched it yesterday.
I’m 21 years old so I didn’t have any knowledge of the original backstory from the cartoons.
I just saw a movie that looked interesting. And boy did I love it.
I love how cheesy it is, and I liked the performances of the actors, especially the performances of Adam and Skeletor.
And I liked the message of the film, using masculine strength to crush evil.
It was such a positive portrayal of masculinity, which is unusual for Hollywood.
It did a great job roasting Woke HR culture.
And the fight scenes were amazing. The whole storyline was. I related a lot with Adam, and was cheering him on in the theater. And I’m not one to cheer in a theater haha.
I’ll be going to see it again this weekend, I may even see it a 3rd time.
@KenleyBrowne Yeah, with the exception of a handful of jokes involving sexual innuendo that they probably won’t get. You just have to hope they go over their heads. The movie feels like it was made to take your kids to though.
Over 40 years ago… He saved his universe. He inspired a generation. Now, He-Man returns. Watch the final theatrical trailer for Masters Of The Universe - only in theaters June 5. Get tickets now.
If you have any interest, go see Masters Of The Universe. It 100% deserves to be seen in a theater, the action alone is worth the price of the ticket. It’s fun and I really hope we get more to this story. #MastersOfTheUniverse
Ok, here we go…
I absolutely LOVED Masters of the Universe!!!
Nicholas Galitzine was lovable from his first second on screen. Idris Elba as Duncan was an amazing casting choice. Jared Leto delivered a perfect balance of the campy Filmation Skeletor while still turning him into a credible villain.
I am so happy with the amount of original characters they included in this movie. But I loved that they included Karg. And Dolph Lundgren’s cameo was perfection.
The soundtrack was PHENOMENAL and this movie paid so much respect to the toy collectors and fans of MOTU. But, most of all, they nailed the message of He-Man…which is that power and strength exists in all of us.
Last thing…
I really need this movie to do well because I am DESPERATE for a She-Ra film, but I am willing to be honest and discuss the major issue I had with the film…which is that we need justice for Moss Man!
@cosmicbooknews@DarylTa73224270 They spent the entire movie telling you that man at arms can’t express emotion and sees bravery, strength, stoicism and self sacrifice as the highest calling of masculinity. He was trying to show his daughter she met all of those criteria and was awkward in showing her his pride.
I just watched Masters of the Universe.
I absolutely loved it.
Is it a flawed movie? Yes.
Is it a little too campy at times? Yes.
Is this a movie that fans of the 1983 series will love? Yes.
That’s who this movie was made for. Us. The fans of the 1983 series.
Don’t listen to the negative reviews from people that are too young to know. It’s not for them. They’re not going to pick up on what made this movie so special.
It hit all the beats it needed to. That was my childhood.
Please go see it.
8/10.
I’m certainly not young, and I grew up when the cartoons and toys were at the peak of their popularity, but it was never my favourite franchise. I decided to give this movie a chance because it felt like a movie that would play well in the current time and at least for me, it wasn’t a disappointment.
@jokerdaddy23@GeeksGamersCom This is the kind of movie where I expected to see Marvel humour and welcomed it. I’m not sure how you do live action he-man without a little bit of self-awareness.
@verbalriotshow Couldn’t agree more. This wasn’t woke. It was good hearted and fun. It made fun of woke corporate PC culture. Characters were likeable and relatable. I haven’t enjoyed a movie this much in a while.
This was not woke at all. It actually spent a good chunk of the early portion of the film making fun of insufferable corporate PC culture. It doesn’t dip into the maliciousness of the culture wars but I think some people are mistaking its good hearted message for wokeness. It’s not.
This is you from the future- “OH MY GOD! Just saw Masters of the Universe on Prime Video! That was amazing! Why’d no one tell me? wish I could’ve seen it in theaters. My god would this even get a sequel??”
We can change this future. Watch #mastersoftheuniverse in theaters now
