When you copy anything on your phone, it goes to your device’s clipboard. Think of the clipboard like a tiny temporary notebook your phone uses to hold whatever you just copied; numbers, text, links, anything.

Apps are allowed to read the clipboard when you open them.

So when you launch Opay, the app quickly checks:
“Is there a number in the clipboard that looks like an account number or phone number?”

If yes, it politely suggests:
“Hey, you just copied this. Want to paste it?”

Opay is not watching your screen or spying on your chats but rather reading what your phone already saved in the clipboard.

Both Android and iOS support this behavior. In fact:

• iPhone even shows “App pasted from clipboard”
• Many apps do it; banking apps, SMS apps, OTP auto-fill, crypto wallets, etc.

They do this for speed and convenience, especially for payments, so you don’t mistype long numbers and send money to the wrong person.

From a security point of view, it’s local to your device. The app doesn’t magically know what you copied before you open it, it only reads the clipboard when it’s active.
