@TheBabylonBee When I was a state trooper we had no state law about loud music. I looked toward the music I heard from another car once, and saw the failure to signal a lane change, which led to an arrest of the driver for a couple felonies. Love that loud music!!
@TheBabylonBee In response, during my law enforcement career, I routed my police radio audio through my patrol car's external speaker, to share MY taste in audio entertainment. That always solved the problem.
For the last few decades, if you went through Riggins, Idaho, you may run into a man named Jim wearing a t shirt proclaiming Jesus Christ. As often happened, when you tell him "nice shirt", he invariably says, "well thanks - I've got one just for you - what are you, a large?"
Jim then goes to his truck, pulls out a bin full of shirts, and offers you several shirts with various phrases all proclaiming Christ. I have seen him do this >100 times.
Each time he'd say something like, "You know when a muslim or hindu walks down the street, you know it by how they dress. Should be the same with us. He tells us 'don't be afraid' over and over in scripture. So don't. Proclaim that Jesus is Lord! You got nothing to worry about!" Then he'd give out the shirts.
Jim really means it and has lived unafraid for decades. He is an actual, real, out-of-a-storybook mountain man. As his sometimes sidekick, Jim and I have hunted elk on crazy mountain tops and canyons, caught salmon in wild rivers, and felled many many trees on ridges I could barely stand beside. Jim can fix anything, climb anywhere, hit any target. A navy veteran and the most American person I have known.
Jim even paid for a billboard over the 400-person town, "God Sets The Standards, We Need to Live By Them." He mounted huge sings all over town decrying inappropriate material in the local school and got them to change policy. For me, Jim has been a mentor and dear friend I admire deeply. My sons proudly wear his shirts to their California public school.
Yesterday Jim was killed in a freak logging accident. I mourn him but celebrate - today he is surely with the Lord of Lords. See you there pal.
@thehoffather I don't understand why federal and state elected officials had to be at a media conference for an incident in a city's jurisdiction, let alone it was the initial briefing and was delayed for them.
@jackngraham Absolutely always grateful for God's word! Also grateful for the words of a great pastor, "Never doubt in the darkness what we know in the sunlight to be true" (or words to that effect; greatly encouraging to me).
@BuzzPatterson@CaptMarkKelly From https://t.co/Gco6jDqMNJ I find the Lincoln carries over 5,600 personnel (crew + air wing). With empathy for those who are suicidal, is 8 suicide attempts unusual over that timeframe for 5K younger adults?
Why is it “sad” to see a child LEARNING?
Some of the comments on our videos say it’s sad that I have to teach these boys certain things.
I don’t understand that.
You weren’t born knowing how to pay bills, fix things, communicate, grocery shop, handle emergencies, or navigate life. Somebody taught you. And I guarantee everything you know didn’t come from your mama and daddy.
That’s the whole point of a village.
These boys have parents who love them and teach them. My own children learn from people besides me too. More good adults pouring into a child is a blessing, not evidence that somebody failed.
Instead of being sad that they didn’t know something, be happy somebody cared enough to teach them.
@jackngraham The murders she committed are abominable & horrendous, & the defense of her actions is atrocious & a manifestation of Satanic evil. Repulsive.
@CoachChadRogers Related: being the one who always has all the answers causes losses of political capital, just as does always being right. I try to ask questions so others find the answers. I'm still working on this.
@triggerwarned1 @Ressurection78 These could have been set intentionally. Or accidentally. I'll wait for the investigations to conclude. As for simultaneous starts, Pulse Point says dispatch times were 11:56, 2:07, & 3:22. Not simultaneous.
@PeteSoudar@BuzzPatterson That IS what I thought they were singing (when I was 12). 50+ years later, I find bathroom locations to be particularly valuable information.
