I tried duolingo but found it very tedious in the long run and moved to anki and reading instead. I like the gamification, but I don't think duolingo was good for japanese.

@McGowanJohnN There's an optional rule that is called Proficiency Without Level. It removes level modifiers from most rolls, meaning that the progression becomes flatter and the difficulty curve becomes smoother. Might want to look into it.
