@radicalbytes at display is wonderful, i love the thematic of (imo) absurdism vs nihilism in it, but some things stick out a little, feel indulgent and immature (and no i am not even talking about the 'trophy', it's more of a broader thing. So at least in my pov it's a little overhyped.
@radicalbytes It's a great film, i also love your essay here, i agree very much that this kind of masculinity is wonderful to see, it's just a very humane film through and through. But at least to me some of the 'rick and morty' random humor parts were a little much at times. The creativity
@LycanGTV One day you'll maybe understand that this is what destiny is all about due to the way he acts and treats people. The environment is the mirror of the person.
@radicalbytes @The_Reviewist "Read all the differing opinions on this" isn't the clapback you think it is. And it's definitely not helpful to make people believe that there is a real solution to "abolish the police completely" when anything you replace it with seems to need violence as a last resort too
@radicalbytes @The_Reviewist cease existing because we really want them to. If you care for effective activism, then don't just quote tweet people who are emotionally appealing in stating how much they dislike the current situation. That's not convincing anyone whose not already fundamentally agreeing.
@radicalbytes How do you control any form of potential violence without some institution build to do so? How does a society work where this doesn't exist at all?
I'm open to the idea, but it sounds like anarchy
@noodlemaz To which i reply with "maybe, but it doesn't really matter, she is a billionaire anyway".
You might as well say people should stop using twitter because elon musk is anti trans. It's all performative and has no actual impact on anything.
@noodlemaz And i am telling you that it is irrelevant if she sees it that way. As irrelevant as her believing the sun rising each day is the sun's endorsement of her views. It has no connection.
What your actual position seems to be is that any money going to her is bad.
@LiliCarlyle I don't insist on supporting it. You have it backwards, i don't insist on anything but people's choice to make actions which aren't linked to some form of "pro / anti JKR" account on the basis of their media engagement.
Judging people based on that alone, thats what i disagree w
@machineiv Not at all, as i stated in my first reply, i won't even play this game. And i mean that. But not because i am linking the game to her ideology, i simply don't care for it.
What i disagree with is the equation of people buying that game as a full support of JKR the person.
@machineiv And you sound like you don't want to have a conversation, but lecture vague sentiments anyone who already agrees with you can latch onto. I am not interested in that.
@machineiv Equating this 'boycott' to "all boycotts in the history of labor" is vagueposting, obfuscating what we're even talking about. You do you, but it's not exactly an effective way of communicating.
@machineiv You're being abstract on purpose i imagine. This solely depends on the boycott being seen as significant in its effectiveness. That is exactly what is in question here, the crux of the disagreement.
@bubbalubber Honest question, do you believe harry potter fans are significantly more anti semitic than other groups of people because they were in contact with her world?
If the answer is no, then yeah i stand by what i said.
@bubbalubber Judge her, judge her actions, her words, and people actively supporting THAT. But a videogame which isn't meaningfully connected to any political ideology of hers? I just don't see how that makes much sense.
@bubbalubber isn't significantly affected by this game doing well or not. She is for all intents and purposes a billionaire and that won't change. Judging people for playing a game as if it meant they support everything JKR believes in is misguided to me.
