I bought fuel yesterday in Toronto, Canada, at $1.7999 CAD per litre, and it cost about $98.95 CAD to fill up my tank. This should ideally last me about a week or more.
Now, the minimum wage in Canada is $17.95 CAD per hour, which means someone who works an average of 8 hours a day will earn $143.60 CAD before tax. A day's salary is enough to fuel his or her car for 2–3 weeks. This means that even one of the lowest earners in Canada can afford to own and drive a car daily without the cost of fuel becoming an overwhelming burden. Public education for children is also free and of high quality.
In Nigeria, fuel is about ₦1,300 per litre. It would cost about ₦88,000 to fill up a similar tank. The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦70,000 per month. This means that an entire month's minimum wage cannot even fill the tank once.
A minimum-wage earner in Nigeria cannot realistically afford to own, fuel, and maintain a car. The same person still has to afford food, rent, children's education, healthcare, electricity, transportation, and other basic necessities. The list goes on.
In fact, even a bank manager in Nigeria earning ₦1 million monthly could still struggle to maintain a decent standard of living after covering these basic expenses.
This is one reason poverty is so widespread in Nigeria. The cost of basic living is simply too high relative to what the average person earns.
You don't just have an income problem in Nigeria. You have an affordability problem.
For millions of Nigerians, simply living a decent life has become too expensive and increasingly impossible.
How much does a single person really need to make every month in Canada in 2026? 😂
I mean enough to pay bills, live comfortably, save, invest and still enjoy life small.
What’s your realistic number? 👀
In order to bring back love letters, we must first bring back the real lovers, and in order to bring back the real lovers, we must bring back emotional intelligence, kindness, empathy, and consideration.
I used to think this way, but then I realized that "this is him enjoying his money" by following his passion. I am afraid to mentally do the accounting of his campaign efforts. For someone who doesn't plan to steal money, this is a lot of money being spent.
Look at all of them, a bunch of useless fools. That SanwoOlu is more useless than the K in knife. 🤮 Nigeria is not going anywhere with these clowns in power.
I actually love the app so much. It reminds me of how much love I’ve had to give, when it ended and I thought I would die, and now that I don’t feel anything anymore for whoever was involved. It also reminds me of how far I’ve come in life generally.
This is stupidity. I need us to stop mincing words. You people are stupid. The fool claiming to be president, the idiots standing there, the media capturing it, you that posted it, Nigerians as a whole, we are all stupid that this is our reality. This is fucking stupid.
You can easily spend 5-8hrs in traffic just because the President is visiting Lagos.
An entire lane can be closed for many hours with no sign of him.
People will miss their flights, others will miss appointments, many will get home late just because our daddy is coming home.
Somehow we've all accepted this as normal. No wahala.
Gained social relevance after the lekki tollgate killings. Literally named himself after it. Now supporting the party that visited that violence on Nigerians. What a journey.
Calling Canada “one of the worst countries in the entire world” after more than 40,000 Canadians served alongside us in Afghanistan and 158 of their troops died...
while saying “we get along with China” as Beijing has supported Iran's military during a war killing and wounding Americans...
may be the peak of geopolitical absurdity.
CANADA FOUGHT BESIDE US.
CHINA IS HELPING ARM THE OTHER SIDE.
Bayo @aonanuga1956 is he aware that while he was away
… people were massacred in Plateau and Benye states ?
What is his response to that situation as he commences this visit to a Nigeria that he purports to govern ?
