I feel like now is a good time to put this out there.
I HAVE ZERO SOURCES.
I’m just as lost as all of you. I just repost what I read or hear, and try to do it so you don’t have to read and listen to a thousand podcasts.
That is all. Enjoy trade season.
“We assume [Trey Murphy] is probably going to get traded over the next 3 weeks. I think Boston is a possibility. We thought whoever lost this matchup was a possibility. There’s a couple other teams. But, you have 2 to 3 weeks to trade for someone like that.”

@sportsarecool5@BasketFoot_@FlankenBerry They wouldn’t. It’s simply to show the value.
It puts into context how many picks (in value) we traded for Zubac. The value of a 5th overall pick + the 2029 pick.
So you’re closer to 3-4 total future firsts in value rather than 2 ordinary future firsts.
@Peetie_Peete@HaliVisi0n I think 2-3 is probably more accurate after looking at past data. So I overshot by 1 probably. But yeah, I’d confidently say 2-3. And for me personally I’m closer to 3 than 2 as far as how I think value would be considered. https://t.co/IK8ASLK5es
@FlankenBerry One example I can remember: Deandre Hunter was involved in something like this in 2019.
The Hawks moved #8, #17, and #35 (had to look them up) just to move 4 spaces to #4.
In my example I’m talking about a team that is moving from outside of the draft into the draft.
@711DickPill@HaliVisi0n@Luckyazure11 Yes, 2 firsts to move 4 spaces. Again, *points to previous tweet* I’m talking about a team moving from outside of the draft into the draft. And a team that will be picking in the 20-30 range.

@jlh0215@johndrichardson It’s also good to keep in mind what the 5th pick could have received in trade value. Could the Pacers have bolstered their SF position by only moving the 5th overall pick (for those interested in Trey Murphy)?
Maybe pick up a late first/early second round pick for Mathurin?
@711DickPill@HaliVisi0n@Luckyazure11 If you were looking to trade into the 5th spot and you’re a winning team that typically picks from 20-30, how many of those would a team need to move their pick?
Do you really think a team is going to take 2 future 1sts for a 5th overall pick?
@johnhollinger on Trey Murphy’s trade value:
“I think it’s almost a [Mikal] Bridges type package, to be honest, or a Desmond Bane type package.
If New Orleans truly tries to get something for him, I think they’d get 3 firsts in their sleep, and possibly more than that.”

“Everybody wants Trey Murphy.”

@Tweezy2Trill One thing I forgot in the original deal is the when the Magic traded for Desmond Bane, one of the 4 draft picks was probably included to get off Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s contract.
So maybe somewhere in the middle of your deal and my deal is closer to that type of package.
Pelicans have alluded to needing a Desmond Bane type offer for Trey Murphy. And to be honest, I think they’ll probably get it.
Mikel Bridges went for 4 1sts (and a swap). And so did Bane.
So the question is, are you willing to trade 3-4 1sts for Trey Murphy, plus salary?
@Tom18369195 I get that. The goal is to try to make a trade similar to the construction of the Bane deal.
You could argue that when the Magic traded Kentavious Caldwell-Pope they had to include an extra 1st to get off his deal.
So maybe remove the swaps? Or remove one of Walker or Toppin?
An attempt at a “Desmond Bane Type Offer”
Pacers:
Trey Murphy
Pelicans:
Obi Toppin or TJ McConnell
Jarace Walker
Ben Sheppard
1st from 2027, 2031, and 2033
1st round Pick Swaps for 2028 and 2030
I think all of this checks out by NBA rules. Let me know if it doesn’t though.
