@JamesMalsawm Crazy that even if it does, new frontier models come out and thr goal posts just keep shifting without appreciating that are we getting some banger open-weight models in very short time frames.
@catalinmpit I do, and I have been using it and still slowly burning through my free credits. Because it also just works, I haven't gone to try change it out. Keeping an eye on the other ones though
@itsmeMehak_ If you are doing it for yourself, and want to learn the craft. As anything go ahead and do it. You come out a better person regardless and doesn't take away from anything else you can do in parallel
@ideaoracle Thank you! I am super curious how well things have progressed across all domains. I have had an idea I noted a very detailed spec about 3y ago and havent had time to sit with it. Now is as good a time as any.
Already have a few things in the pipeline!
Coming soon: a build-in-public series on making a hack-and-slash as cheaply as possible.
DeepSeek does the work through my own router, trellis.cpp (TRELLIS.2) makes static models locally on my RX 7900 XTX (Vulkan for now, ROCm next), and the agent drives Blender. Paid tools like Tripo only where local can’t do the job.
Every update will show what it cost and where the cost went. The goal is to find the patterns and turn them into a setup I use every day.
Know a tool or model I should test? Drop it below. I’m still figuring this out as I build.
#indiedev #gamedev #buildinpublic
Output tokens aren’t my biggest cost. Context is. But output is the lever: every token the agent writes gets re-read on every step after.
Terse steps + targeted edits = context grows slowly.
Goal-driven work = clean points to start fresh.
Cheaper, sharper, and I stay in the loop.
@yuhasbeentaken I have yet to make the jump, the reading and theories need to be applied on my end and this is good to hear.
I am keeping tabs on your findings.
@darebude For me, it has to be my z-flip. The whole change here, it gave me "less screen-time" and I ended up as a side effect, focusing on other aspects of my life
@ideaoracle I have seen people throw around terms like 400-500 replies like it is a easy thing and saying it isn't automated. I wonder how scalable this is, assuming it is true
@ishaa_malhotra I believe you get a over quota status, not sure if it is still the same, it might not lose data but you also might not be able to add things and no emails etc. Might be worth a double check though!
A goldmine of knowledge that costs nothing but time. @Franc0Fernand0 put together a 14 articles on software architecture design principles, and I’m using it as an excuse to go back to my roots a little.
Revisiting the abstract fundamentals is one of the best ways I know to sharpen how I reason about decisions when planning the details of a system.
