The insect apocalypse: ‘Our world will grind to a halt without them’
Insects have declined by 75% in the past 50 years – and the consequences may soon be catastrophic
Without insects birds too will disappear

In a development drawing intense international outrage, Japan’s 2026 commercial whaling season is officially underway, with a state quota authorizing the slaughter of 412 whales in the North Pacific. The Fisheries Agency’s targeting list includes 145 minke, 153 Bryde’s, 56 sei, and 58 fin whales. Driven by Kyodo Senpaku and its massive new factory processing vessel, the Kangei Maru, the offshore hunt has been fiercely condemned by conservationists who warn that killing vulnerable and endangered fin and sei whales actively sabotages decades of population recovery.

5 million fish are killed every minute by fishing industry Super trawlers are devouring the ocean of marine life
These ships can catch, process and store hundreds of thousands of tonnes of fish
This is not sustainable
Make it stop
Ban super trawlers now
Yes! It was one of the greatest acts of civil disobedience ever. Given our government refuses to restrict devastating bottom trawling, even in so-called protected areas, these boulders should be placed around the length and breadth of our shallow coastal seas.
Bears are being killed for ornamental caps - and the MoD’s orders have jumped by 336% under the Labour government.
Records obtained by PETA show that the MoD ordered 96 bearskin caps from January to September 2025, compared with 22 in 2024.
Bears in Canada are baited with sweet food, shot with guns or crossbows, and their pelts are sold to fur auction houses.
The MoD must stop using taxpayer money to fund this violence and instruct cap-makers to develop a modern faux fur cap now.
Fishing industry is obliterating marine life at ever faster rate
Hundreds of dead sharks found washed up on beaches
"The fish appear to be dogfish, and this is likely linked to fishing by-catch being discarded at sea.

Incidents like this are a reminder that stronger accountability and more sustainable fishing practices are urgently needed to protect marine biodiversity.
Over 600 pilot whales, white sided dolphins & bottle nose dolphins were slaughtered in 3 separate Grind Hunts on the Faroe Islands on Wednesday. Britain must suspend trade relations with the Faroe Islands to stop this cruel madness
Coffee pods generate 56 billion units of single-use plastic waste globally every year.
Stacked end-to-end, that's enough to wrap the planet about 50 times. The aluminum and plastic pods take roughly 500 years to break down. Less than 10% are actually recycled despite manufacturer claims.
A French press, an Aeropress, or a basic drip maker produces zero pod waste. The machines cost less than a year of pods. The coffee is better anyway.
ONLY A NUMBER, NEVER A NAME
Consider the existence of factory farmed animals - cruelly caged and confined, hidden in vast sheds out of sight and mind
Chickens with more space in the oven, rabbits that can’t even hop, sows that can’t turn around
The greatest abuse of animals in the world happening on our watch!!
What has happened to our humanity?

@CIWF_Global
This is actually happening. Our founder is standing for Parliament dressed as a Fox in a final push to end fox hunting and the hunting of wild mammals for good.
It's time for the Govt to force an end to this sick pastime.
Imagine feeding human-suitable crops to farmed animals who are then k*lled for meat, while 673 million people are going hungry every day. Does that not seem strange to you?
He should have gone to prison
In a deeply controversial outcome that has sparked national fury, a Wyoming judge granted probation to an individual who admitted to torturing a gray wolf. The case, which involved the intentional use of a snowmobile and horrific mistreatment, has left advocates outraged over what they perceive as gross judicial leniency. This ongoing struggle highlights a major gap in predator exemption laws and has ignited nationwide calls for urgent legislative reform to protect all wildlife.
