I worked one of the last NKS in to MIA last night. He said “hope we can do this again” when I gave him the frequency change. The sound in his voice almost made me lose it for him. I just responded with “I do too, sir. We’re praying for you.” 3-4 pilots on the freq chimed in with the same. You could feel the thickness in the moment. One I hope I never have to feel again in my career.
