@OCtuSentri@BenRsnblm@scottygfc@AutismCapital@CollinRugg Yes, stealing someone's gun is against the law, the point is the origin of the gun is legal, they are then stolen/illegally sold or were bought for someone else from the get go, if those guns weren't sold in the first place they wouldn't end up in the hands of criminals
@OCtuSentri@BenRsnblm@scottygfc@AutismCapital@CollinRugg But we're not talking death in general we're talking gun related deaths, and if you want to take in consideration suicides, of the 199 deaths in Australia for the time period I stated, 159 were suicides, 27 were homicides, the US had around 19.000 homocides.
@ligma__sigma@a_crisp_lettuce@DutchDaniels@AutismCapital@CollinRugg I didn't mean that their self defense would go against the law, I'm sure they would be protected by castle doctrine, stand your ground and such, I was just being precise in that the threats were specifically against the man speaking to him not the occupants in the house.
@OCtuSentri@BenRsnblm@scottygfc@AutismCapital@CollinRugg Just look at Australia, they had one mass shooting in 1996 and pretty much banned all weapons, in 2019-2020 they had 199 gun related deaths, the US in 2020 had around 45.000 gun related deaths, sure, some criminals will find a way to get a gun, but 90% if not more wont be able to
@MattSto15342814@AutismCapital@CollinRugg And guess what? It worked, gun violence dropped off a cliff, in 2019-2020 they had 199 gun deaths, the US recorded around 45.000 gun deaths in 2020 alone, thats 226 times the amount of Australia.
The US has 12 times the population of Australia but 226 times the firearm deaths.
@MattSto15342814@AutismCapital@CollinRugg Just look at Australia, they had one mass shooting in 1996 and then banned shotguns and semi-auto rifles, bought back and destroyed over 650.000 legally obtained guns and by some estimates over 1 million illegal or prohibited (Full auto, military style) weapons.
