India achieved 20% ethanol blending E20 target 5 years ahead of its deadline.
But the flyover or metro construction that can reduce the fuel consumption in true sense get delayed years after year.
It's not that the Govt is inefficient, they're highly efficient in collecting tax and working on things where they get benefitted and ignore every other things where public can get any benefit.
Why can't our Govt do a study to find out how much petrol diesel we can save by just
> Filling the potholes and making roads smooth
> Making last mile connectivity with public transport and metro
> Reducing traffic so that cars don't burn unnecessary fuel while covering 4km distance in an hour.
> Removing encroachment and make proper footpath to walk
> Providing parking facilities at metro station so that people can park their vehicle and then use public transport.
If they fix all these things, I'm sure India will have to import a lot less oil than we trying to do by blending ethanol in petrol which is causing low mileage and performance issues in incompatible vehicles.
E85 at ₹82/L means you pay ₹20 less than E20 petrol per litre. But E85 tanks empty 30% faster.
So on a 40-litre tank:
E20 gives 720 km.
E85 gives ~504 km.
To travel 720 km on
E85 you need 57 litres × ₹82 = ₹4,674.
On E20 you need 40L × ₹102 = ₹4,080.
E85 costs ₹594 MORE for the same journey. This is the "cheaper fuel."
If somebody is buying a car or a two wheeler today which confirms to BS VI emission norms & is compatible with only E20 fuel, & pays road tax & registration fees for 15 yrs, then the govt has to ensure E20 is available at all times till 2041.
Simple as that. #ethanol
Not a single auto media organization has done a like-for-like comparison of normal petrol versus E20 petrol.
These are people who compare even variants on the slightest difference.
But we are a democracy.
@gemsofbabus_ how the hell is he not facing any consequences for this? No one in the ruling party or opposition criticizes. People keep on complaining still he stands there and launch these new blending ratios every month
