THERE IS HOPE:
In partnership with the Danish Government, we asked 269 teenagers to use @one_sec_app for 8 weeks:
…and it worked way better than anyone expected:
Previously, students were spending more than 20% of school time on social media (on average).
After one sec, social media use in school dropped by 50%.
We also noticed changed bedtime routines: less social media before sleeping let to an increase of +2 hours of sleep per week!
And what makes me proudest:
Many of the participants asked to continue using one sec after the completion of the study.
THERE IS HOPE!
PS:
You can actually use the outcome of our research project already: it’s called “delayed intervention” and is part of one sec’s intervention modes.

💾Microsoft Visual C++ 4.0 Cross-Development Edition for Macintosh💾
Finally, I've done it! 🥹 Visual C++ 4.x contains an optional PowerPC/68k cross-compiler for Macintosh targets. You develop on your WinNT PC but there is a remote debugger and VC++ file transfer process running on your Mac in the background. Once you build a project, a proper executable with Mac-specific resource fork is created in the Mac automatically.
You can execute the app in the Mac directly from Visual C++ menu in you PC. There are ported parts of Win32, MFC... APIs, so it is easy to create GUI apps using single code shared for both PC and Mac.
This thing is so niche thing that I had to read the Help to understand how to configure it properly. None of AI system (Grok, ChatGTP5...) gave any helpful advice. I have to admit, that VC++ built-in help is not as good as built-in help in the 1980s Microsoft apps like Multiplan or QuickBasic. The decline in the help quality was perceivable even back in the 90s...🤫
Debian was officially founded by Ian Murdock on August 16, 1993. That's 32 years of stable, free, and opensource computing. From a single kernel, it has grown to parent some of the most popular OS in the world. Cheers to the one that started it all! Happy 32nd birthday #Debian
