J&K’s fertility rate has fallen to 1.5. Read that number again: 1.5.
That means J&K is no longer simply experiencing a decline in fertility have described the trend as alarming, warning of potentially serious demographic and economic consequences.
It is moving deep below the level required for long-term population replacement.
If this persists, the consequences could unfold over generations: fewer children, smaller families, rapid population ageing, a shrinking workforce and major changes to the social and economic structure of the region.
The most shocking part? Demographic decline happens quietly. By the time its effects become visible, reversing the trend can be extremely difficult.
J&K’s 1.5 TFR deserves far more serious public discussion.
A so-called "hijabi" moving her body for views is pure fitnah, mockery of the hijab.
There are girls far more beautiful than her, yet true Muslimahs would never support this.
She only got noticed because of the hijab—remove it first, then dance or do whatever you want.
As a Kashmiri Muslim, I find this argument even more disturbing because why am I expected to view these questions the way an Assamese or a Bihari Muslim does?
Why can I not practise my faith, or excercise my rights according to my own understanding and convictions?
Why should I be cornered for expecting the institutions that I fund for a particular purpose to function in accordance with that purpose?
And what makes anyone assume that an indigenous Assamese Muslim perspective must necessarily define Zaira’s or my understanding of, or expectations from, Kashmiri culture and ways of life?
You do you. Extend us the same courtesy. Don’t tell us that we must think, live or behave exactly as you do.
