Introducing the BHARAT Study (Biomarkers of Healthy Aging, Resilience, Adversity & Transitions)! This paper details our study design.
Excited for my thesis which'll focus on immune aging and mathematical/stats frameworks to extract insights from multiomics data.
@Longevity_IISc
Led by IISc under the Longevity India Initiative, a new BHARAT Study is building India-specific data on metabolism, immunity & gut health.
It will also contribute to refining global models of aging.

Interactome mapping has been stuck at a few hundred baits over months. HIP-MS changes the regime: ~10,000 pulldowns/week at 500 samples/day, fully automated. A new era for interactomics — and a precursor to high-throughput proteomics writ large. https://t.co/Fozb4LfdQk
@vishuguttal Personally, I am a fan of journals that promote open science like @eLife and @ResearchHub over something like Nat Comm but I'm not sure if many of my fellow students/colleagues would share the same mindset. Although it is slowly changing now.
Every AI CEO has promised to cure disease. They are LYING.
Not because the AI is bad. Because the data doesn’t exist.
The entire industry trains models on snapshots of dead cells in mice. That’s why 90% of drugs fail in humans.
The FDA just told pharma to replace animal testing in 3-5 years. There is no replacement at scale. No one knows where to go. We are where you go.
We built the instrument that captures what actually happens inside living human cells when you add a drug.
Data that has never existed before. Data that will be what cures cancer and autoimmune and dementias.
Every drug we screen trains a foundation model. The model gets smarter. The data compounds.
the same biology that predicts toxicity reveals novel drug targets. entire classes of disease that are undruggable today because nobody could see them.
We’re not an AI company making promises, we are making this problem actually solvable.
We’re the data layer that makes everyone else’s promises real.
Claude is literally teaching me maths right now and i actually understand it??
like it just showed me WHY a positive medical test doesn't mean you're sick (Bayes theorem) with a live interactive dot grid and i could drag sliders to see it change in real time
normal distribution, central limit theorem, full interactive bell curves all in one chat
this is how school should have worked

True. It’s very easy nowadays to just ask LLMs to draft everything and you lose your individual writing voice. I think a conscious decision needs to be made to write on your own. Although in other aspects, it’s been super-useful such as tool development and learning concepts.
Graduate students increasingly use artificial-intelligence tools to draft, code and search — but many fear it could erode the very skills a doctorate is meant to build

Micro-Mapping Nature in Bengaluru! 🌳
We showed up last Sunday to map the hidden life of trees, and turn it into open data.
VizChitra’s Bengaluru chapter hosted a walk through the leafy arteries of Indiranagar to explore and observe urban nature with intention.
Just wrapped an incredible workshop with @VizChitra mapping trees in Indiranagar using OpenStreetMap yest!
🌳🗺️
~20 of us marked 150+ trees in our neighbourhood in under an hour. Mind-blowing what even a single determined person can do together with OSD today!
Learnt the difference between Google Maps & open-source maps, and why open data matters - for work, for passion, for a lot more.
P.S. @pkmfaris’s mapping of tabebuias was the talk of the day!
Research thrives on collaboration. The best ideas spark not only under fluorescent lab lights, but under open skies too.
Our department took a short break to connect beyond projects and publications. Stronger bonds. Fresh energy. One team. 📸

Researchers from @BE_IISc have developed a biocompatible small molecule that can help visualise superficial tumours using Photoacoustic Tomography. The approach can be less expensive than traditional PET or MRI.
