Thank you President @CyrilRamaphosa for making this clarification. It is very important for the Government to take firm actions against the lawlessness, and hold the perpetrators to account for their crimes.
I must make it clear that only the authorised government officials may act against violations of the law, including violation of our immigration laws.
No other person is allowed, for example, to confront someone in the street to demand proof of nationality.

@DailyMonitor We have developed an elaborate Plan to tackle this mass unemployment at scale, with a systemic agro-industrialisation program. Uganda will continue rising and shining @KagutaMuseveni
@SpireJim's reflection offers a vital piece of intellectual wisdom: the paths of those we admire are rarely straight lines. They are often jagged, marked by rejections, detours, and long, anxious waits in metaphoric or literal long lines.
Yet, while recognizing that "failure to leave" can sometimes be a hidden blessing, we must also lean in with deep emotional empathy. Telling a frustrated, unemployed graduate to "just hang in there" or "be patient" can feel dismissive when rent is due and survival is on the line. The systemic issue—unemployment and the lack of opportunities here at home—requires more than just a mindset shift; it demands structural, actionable pathways.
To address this crisis domestically, we have to look at bridging the gap between raw talent and tangible economic ecosystems. Here is a measured perspective on how we can begin solving this problem from within:
1. Dismantling the "Linear Path" Myth - our education systems often promise a simple transaction: study hard, get top marks, get a good job. When that formula fails, young people experience a crisis of identity and worth. We need to foster an environment where resilience and adaptability are prioritized as much as academic excellence. Intellectual mentorship must move away from showcasing only the "rosy final product" and instead expose the gritty, entrepreneurial, and non-linear realities of building a career locally.
2. Democratizing Digital and Borderless Opportunities - If the physical borders are heavily guarded and restrictive, the digital realm is far more porous. Instead of standing in lines at 3:00 AM for physical kyeeyo to do unskilled labor abroad, high-value "digital kyeeyo" allows youth to export services—like software development, digital marketing, data analysis, and creative design—while living cheaply at home. Government and private sectors must aggressively lower the barriers to entry by subsidizing high-speed internet, creating communal digital hubs, and integrating global freelancing and financial tech infrastructure so local youth can get paid seamlessly by international clients.
3. Rewiring Technical and Vocational Relevance (TVET) - for decades, white-collar degrees have been prized over technical skills, leaving a massive deficit in practical execution. The local market often starves for high-quality, reliable expertise in modern agriculture, manufacturing, specialized construction, and renewable energy installation. We must strip away the stigma attached to vocational training. By pairing modern technology with traditional trades (e.g., agritech, smart manufacturing), we can transform local industries into lucrative, youth-led sectors.
4. Cultivating "Micro-Entrepreneurship" Ecosystems - telling an unemployed youth to "start a business" without capital or mentorship is an empty gesture. Capital is tight, and risk is terrifyingly high. We need robust, local peer-to-peer networks, angel micro-investment funds, and startup incubators that don't just cater to high-tech Silicon Valley clones, but to grassroots businesses solving local supply chain, retail, or service gaps - and this could be an improvement on the PDM. Small, localized grants combined with intensive business mentorship reduce the penalty for failure.
The sting of rejection—whether a visa denial or a ignored job application—is incredibly painful in the moment. But as Ssentongo notes in 1000497055.jpg, some detours protect us from being consumed by survival labor abroad, forcing us to look inward. The goal at home is not to force the youth to build empires out of nothing, but to build an ecosystem that ensures their brilliance, energy, and determination aren't left waiting in the dark at 3:00 AM.

I am deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic passing of Sydney Gongodyo, whose incredible talent and dedication brought immense pride to the @RugbyCranes Uganda Rugby Cranes, @UgandaRugby Uganda Rugby Union, and the entire sports community. To represent one's country at the highest level requires exceptional character and heart, and Sydney wore the national jersey with distinction.
My heart goes out to his family during this unimaginably dark time. No words can truly ease the pain of such a sudden and devastating loss, but please know that the entire sports community stands with you in grief. I also extend my deepest condolences to the @piratesrugbyUG Pirates Rugby Club and the rugby fraternity at large. May his family find strength, and may Sydney rest in eternal peace.
@JMNkangi To renounce citizenship means to voluntarily give up your nationality. To denounce citizenship means to publicly speak out against or declare it unlawful, but it does not change your legal status. What was expected of @ReachDrMuganga was to renounce his other citizenship.
Blessed Sunday, Team Job Collins Okello!
As we pause today to reflect and recharge, I am reminded that great journeys are never walked alone. True leadership isn't about the position we seek; it is about the shared destiny we build together.
The pillars we stand on—Pan-Africanism, Regional Stability and Integration, and Shared Prosperity—are not just campaign slogans. They are the blueprint for our collective future. Every conversation we have, every connection we forge, and every step we take brings us closer to a more integrated, stable, and prosperous region where no one is left behind.
Leadership is a shared responsibility, and my strength comes from your unwavering belief in this vision.
Thank you for standing firmly with me on this journey.
Let us use this Sunday to rest, reflect on our mission, and prepare for the week ahead with renewed energy and purpose. Together, as Jumuiya Pamoja, we will transform this vision into reality.
Have a peaceful and blessed Sunday.
Team Job Collins Okello

East African integration has outgrown merely good intentions. The work that remains—a functioning monetary union, a true common market, and a real political federation—will be settled not in speeches, but in the precise drafting of law.
I am standing for election to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to bring nearly two decades of boardroom and grassroots experience to the one chamber where our region's laws are made.
My regional journey began in 2007 as the East African Regional Youth Representative for the IPPF across eight countries. Since then, I have served as: Vice Chairman of the Uganda Youth Network, Political Director of SavvyPol Consulting Group, President of Population International, and Alumnus and former brief Chair of the YALI Regional Leadership Center Uganda Alumni Chapter
In Arusha, I will proactively lead and work alongside regional peers to: (a) Accelerate the East African Monetary Union and integrate regional financial markets; (b) Harmonize trade and labor laws to dismantle non-tariff barriers and ensure the free movement of workers; (c) Build integrated cooperative systems and agro-industrial policies that turn smallholder production into competitive value chains; and (d) Establish sound governance for the digital economy and human-development standards.
The East Africa we have long imagined is a body of law waiting to be written. I am ready to offer my technical preparation, experience, and unyielding patriotism to write it in consultation with our national Parliament.

I do not condone bullying of anyone, be an ordinary person or a VIP. While constructive engagement is vital for thriving governance, it should be respectful, factual, and communicated effectively. The country needs more people to sit across the table, listen to one another, reason together, and solve disputes in a manner that endures. #NoOnlineBullying #Uganda #EastAfrica #EALA
@Jacquedavids1 The unanswered question was: did you renounce your citizenships elsewhere (Canada, Rwanda or wherever) so that you're a citizen of Uganda only? That question, was unanswered and the response given became diversionary and laced with unnecessary tribal sentiments.
