We developed a new subduction model that bridges long-term plate tectonics and great megathrust earthquakes. The model self‐consistently integrates buoyancy forces, nonlinear mantle flow, inter‐plate friction, and along-strike slip variation: https://t.co/H7KFhXZmAG
Some models show slow, long-term seismic movements. Others focus on short-term events like earthquakes. A new model from @CaltechSeismo researchers is among the first to include both long- and short-term timescales. https://t.co/2RUTyn11ej
A great new study out led by @__fjq with @yanyang000, @Zhichao_Geo, @BiondiEttore, @ZhongwenZhan, and others showcases 2D tomography with DAS in Oxnard, CA. Where Rayleigh waves dominate the ambient seismic field, 2D tomography is possible even on orthogonal DAS array segments.
