The greatest threat to humanity has never been external.

It has always been the inflation of the ego beyond what reality can sustain.

We have built civilisations of extraordinary sophistication and called it wisdom. We have mastered the manipulation of matter at the atomic level and called it understanding. We have constructed systems of communication that reach every corner of the earth and used them primarily to argue, perform, and seek validation.

The narcissistic inflation is not individual. It is civilisational.

The belief that human cleverness has no natural limits. That nature exists to be conquered rather than respected. That the ancient wisdom encoded in living systems, in the soil, in the body, in the accumulated understanding of generations who lived close to the earth, is superstition to be replaced by whatever the current scientific consensus happens to say this decade.

That arrogance has consequences.

We see them in the chronic disease epidemic produced by a food system that treats biology as a manufacturing problem. We see it in our medical system. In the neurological consequences of an electromagnetic environment imposed on a species that evolved in nothing resembling it. In the psychological fragmentation of a culture that replaced genuine community with digital simulation and called it connection.

And in COVID, the moment when the full expression of institutional arrogance became visible. The certainty that a novel genetic platform could be deployed at global scale in months. That the complexity of the human immune system could be safely overridden by a synthetic spike protein. That anyone questioning this was not a voice worth hearing.

Humility is not weakness.

It is the accurate recognition of the limits of what any human being or institution actually knows, combined with the willingness to act accordingly.

Without it, intelligence becomes the most dangerous thing we possess.

With it, even imperfect knowledge can be used wisely.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
