I have always known Nethrapal to be a typical system man, like most other UPSC babus. He understands the language of the system because he has learned to think within its boundaries. He should stick to what he knows instead of venturing into matters beyond his intellectual capacity.

He should have the humility to recognise that advising Dalits is beyond his competence. He would save himself considerable embarrassment.

Dalits don't need lectures from men who have made careers out of serving the system. The system trains its Dalit babus to think within limits, agitate within limits, and speak within limits. And who sets those limits? The very people who control the system.

System men are generally good for nothing when it comes to serving marginalised communities. They may be good at serving the system, but that rarely translates into serving the interests of the oppressed.
