Four people have died, and 18 others have been injured in a road accident on the Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road, approximately 120 kilometres from Otjiwarongo, this morning.

A 16-seater bus belonging to Holms Construction, which was travelling from Windhoek, was carrying 15 occupants, one of whom died, while 14 others were injured.

Three people, including the driver of the small bakkie that was travelling from Otjiwarongo, also died at the scene. Four additional occupants sustained injuries.

The police are yet to release an official statement on the accident, and further details regarding the circumstances of the crash are pending.

Speaking as a guest speaker during the Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship Engagement, Sheehama cautioned entrepreneurs against promising customers products or services they cannot provide.

“You should do what you say,” he said, stressing that businesses must honour their commitments, particularly when it comes to deliveries.

Sheehama said entrepreneurs should communicate honestly with customers when challenges such as stock shortages or transport problems arise, rather than providing false information. He said building trust within communities can strengthen customer relationships, encourage repeat business and contribute to sustainable growth.

The fire department and volunteers are currently on site working to contain the fires.
Motorists travelling along the route are urged to exercise caution due to smoke across the road and the presence of emergency vehicles.
The alert was issued on Monday, 24 August by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.
