Police fire rounds and rounds of tear gas again at every exit they try to leave. The protesters are forced to trap in PolyU. #antielab#hongkongprotests
We're live as police surround protesters at a Hong Kong university. It comes after officials threatened to use live rounds against them as clashes intensify dramatically https://t.co/9xjytmLDR1
Protesters have made multiple attempts to flee the campus this morning, but have always been attacked and repelled. It's hard to imagine what police hope to achieve if it's not bloodshed.

They can't get into the uni without live fire (they've tried).
A photo of what I just mentioned. Clear violation of international standards on use of teargas. The cops were peaking their heads up & shooting so fast, they didn’t even see what they were shooting, right down on heads, most here don’t have helmets.
A bloody fight has broken out between protesters and riot police outside Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where upwards of several hundred student protesters have been barricaded inside for days. https://t.co/TCtHvlLEId
Police officers cornered hundreds of protesters who occupied PolyU, offering them one way out: "drop your weapons" and surrender (and possibly face up to 10 years in jail), or be met with a hail of tear gas and rubber bullets (and still risk arrest). https://t.co/AfD5bdcq5L
The police siege at Polytechnic University is the most violent confrontations of Hong Kong protests so far. By laying siege & firing tear gas & rubber bullets at people trying to flee, Hong Kong Police are again fanning flames of violence when they should be trying to defuse it.
An extraordinarily bad day for Carrie Lam with her mask law ruled incompatible with Basic Law, police waging war against students at Poly U for an entire weekend and a second week of lunchtime protests in Central. Her response? Visiting a policeman in hospital. Optics matter.
This is, uh, EXTREMELY alarming. Per @Nrg8000, an M16A2 rifle with an ACOG scope. Venturing a guess that's not loaded with your typical, less-lethal variety ammo.
About an hour ago, roughly 25 injured ppl were taken away by ambulances. Some were visibly injured or unwell. There were however about a dozen young ppl who did not seem visibly hurt & who were led away like prisoners: single file, hands on the shoulders of the person in front.
