@Hookean1 @Science_AQA @PhysicsNews @IOPTeaching Completely agree. 2 of my students come to mind; both were close to tears after exams & utterly convinced they had failed but then ended up with A grades in August.
I often have my classes take the exams I took for AQA back in 2007-8 and they can’t believe how easy I had it!!!

Can anyone explain the huge increase to me? AQA Combined Science foundation grade boundaries might not be the most glamorous part of results day but in a mainly pupil premium boys comp they’re really important.

@GillianKeegan 12M YEN salary for Japanese high school science teachers with a bachelors degree.
That’s about £70,000.
That’s £40,000 more than you’re offering new science teachers in the UK in September.
And about £30,000 more than experienced science teachers get currently.

@adamboxer1 Department C is directed to do both, as well as 16 other things that need to be embedded and spends a lot of time and effort making no difference to further study and careers.

@GillianKeegan @educationgovuk @dianabarran If you weren’t aware; there are 16 physics teachers training in the whole UK this year. The country needs thousands more engineers. The pay on offer in teaching Physics doesn’t attract people who can earn more elsewhere and a 5% rise is nowhere near enough to remedy this.

@GillianKeegan @educationgovuk Offering teachers a 5% pay rise without increasing school budgets won’t “ensure high quality education”. Result will be hiring of unqualified staff (schools cannot even pay energy bills).Please provide the fully funded pay rise requested and avoid the need for strike action.

@GillianKeegan @RishiSunak Please make teachers pay your number 1 first priority. I don’t want to go on strike, but 5% is an insult after years of freezes and with inflation out of control. 5% means nobody will be joining the profession and many will leave for jobs where their skills are properly valued.

@Oggs26 Aversion therapy; ask a friend in school to come into your lesson every time they’re free and tell you something they liked and something they’d change. After a while it won’t seem so weird.

@kitmalthouse Please be agile and adapt your pay offer to teachers before they have to go on strike. 5% is a joke after 10 years of freezes and below inflation rises. Help teachers and students face the difficult winter by keeping our warm schools open!
