Parents, please don’t be afraid of IEPs, therapy, counseling, tutoring, or extra support for your children. Support is not failure. Support helps children grow. 💕💕💕💕💕👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
My toxic trait is that when I’m going through something, stressed, depressed, or whatever, I tend to stop talking to everyone. When I’m okay again, I start communicating like nothing ever happened.
Nobody prepares you for the fact that you will go through some of the most heart shattering experiences of your life and are still expected to show up for work. Take care of yourself. Pay your bills. Meet your goals. Just carry on… it’s awful
I’m so burnt out and depressed that I’m experiencing major skill regression. I’ve honestly lost my ability to communicate and connect with others. I’m so busy trying to figure out how to survive and stay safe in this crazy world that I’ve forgotten how to socialize and have fun. I have no personality, no hobbies anymore. I’m just an empty shell of a person stuck in survival mode.
3 things i don't like when talking to me:
Don't talk to me like I'm your child. Don't talk to me like l'm suppose to be scared of you. And never try to talk to me like I'm stupid. I get hot quick
I think emotional education should be a real thing, I don’t mean soft skills, I mean things like how to sit with boredom, how to be happy alone, how to protect the heart from persuasion, how to discern intuition, how to ask for feedback, opinions, or advice, how to grieve, etc.
You don’t need a perfect partner. You need someone who can regulate their emotions, admit when they fck up, and actually sit with uncomfortable conversations without shutting down, flipping it on you, or throwing low blows every time sht gets real.
I might get attacked for this but if your man ain’t buying you expensive hair and bags .. but he’s still opening doors, making sure you eat, pulling out a chair for you, massaging your feet from a tired day, calming you down when you have anxiety, rubbing your back when you have cramps, holding you when you’re down, being honest, not cheating, being respectful and etc., You won! That's also princess treatment right there.
How do you tell someone "i'm not ignoring you i'm just disconnected from reality right now and the days are all blurred together and i feel completely apathetic towards everyone/everything around me so it's really hard for me to maintain a conversation" without saying that
Once i mentally separate myself from a situation you'll never get the same me again. I'm somebody you gotta do right by the first time around because my mental detachment doesn't allow reconnection. Especially because at my age it's hard to make sense out of another grown person trying to play in my face, I can't connect those dots.
If you show people that you will stay through anything, they will start to believe that they can put you through everything. Not because they are cruel, but because people repeat what has no consequences. What you tolerate becomes the standard.
When I shut down, I really shut down. I disappear. I stop talking, I don’t respond to texts, I go quiet without explaining myself. It’s not personal. I might still post, so if it looks like I’m acting weird or ignoring people, I’m not. I’m overwhelmed. I’m regrouping. I’m clearing space in my head so I don’t lose myself trying to hold everything together.
