This is a must-read! Health Equity Tourism creates poor research AND causes harm. We must be reflective in our research practices even when our intentions feel good.
Great keynote by Dr. @HeyArtez at the #jccapforum on culturally responsive #mHealth 👏🏽
Honored to be a discussant with Dr. @_anna____maria_ !!

I often hear from psychology students and post-bacs that they are unsure of what conferences are out there. I've started a (by no means comprehensive!) sheet to compile some options: https://t.co/hIr6Z7JwNO
Do send more my way!
The UCLA Psych Clinic is once again offering FREE therapy to BIPOC youth age 5-24 thanks to a generous grant from the Nicholas Endowment and we have open spots RIGHT NOW! Must be located in California. Not a study, no session limits, just evidence-based therapy.
This is one of my largest frustrations. Medical interpreters have an impressive skill set and we are lucky to have them! Bilingual health professionals have a whole job which is taxing enough, lets not ask them to interpret on top of it.
Can we stop saying certain patients are “VIP”?
Either everyone or no one is VIP.
Stop insinuating that some patients deserve different or better care than others.
I'll die on this hill:
Hospitals should not charge patients or staff to park. For patients, it disproportionally affects those with the lowest economic status.
And for employees, you're charging them to essentially come to work; this most affects employees who make the least.
This is the most useful piece I've seen making the case that adolescents can & should be empowered to provide independent consent to take part in research.
Tell your IRBs. Push for reform. In youth mental health research, this is a vital equity issue. https://t.co/w7tnabvgL0
