AI communism: government funds open AI models that are free to use for everyone.

AI capitalism: government regulates AI to block open models to benefit specific companies and individuals and also provides large funding to the same entities who then charge everyone else excessive fees to further benefit from the government involvement.

It's easy to see why data centers are facing more and more resistance and why the Democrat Socialists are seeing so much popularity in primaries right now.

Once it was confirmed that there was no exit wound from a supposedly 30-06 round to someone's neck, there was no way to legitimately convict Tyler Robinson of murder because it is reasonable to not believe a miracle happened.

I don't have a problem believing in miracles, but I don't think they are appropriate for convicting someone of 1st degree murder in our system.

They have a really good case for attempted murder, but that's it unfortunately.

This isn't really true. I've worked in manufacturing in the USA long enough to see we have ample resources relative to our population. Australia is similar. Any resources not available within our borders are available from neighboring countries.

The global system has been created to benefit financial interests and no one else. If global trade collapsed, there would be short term bumps, but the financial industry pretends it would be completely catastrophic for everyone when it would really be catastrophic for them. What's left of the middle class in the West would continue on and ultimately prosper.

These are common tropes on the right and are almost all wrong. We need to do a lot better if we actually want people to support small government.

The economy is not working for most Americans. It hasn't been for at least the last 50 years. The average American is significantly poorer today than he would have been 50 years ago.

Wealth inequality is a meaningful metric. It's not the only thing that matters economically, but it is definitely not meaningless. Most executives or managers used to make a couple times the income of a typical employee now it's 10-100x higher. That is hard to justify especially given the competence level of most managers and executives.

A large portion of the wealthiest Americans made their money in finance and banking, tech, or media. None of these are creating productivity improvements in excess of the massive rents they are charging society.

The industrial revolution slashed poverty by improving productivity. A machine can help a person produce orders of magnitude more than without the machine. Direct labor makes up a relatively small portion of the cost of any manufactured good today. The rent seeking industries above are hobbling the productive parts of society now. The executives are burdening businesses with high overhead costs instead of paying direct workers more.

Acknowledging the above doesn't mean growing government spending will improve things. It does mean we should have real discussions of what leads to prosperity.

One critical area is what tax policies should we pursue. Currently, the rent seekers have substantial tax advantages because of extremely low capital gains taxes. People like Bernie, AOC, and Nancy Pelosi don't make a push to greatly increase capital gains because that would tax their corrupt investments.

We legislators ignored every county level party in the state that called for Vos to be out of leadership. Then you people had the gall to try to recall him. This bill was to make sure normal people understand they have no say in GOP politics.

Jim Piwowarczyk was the author of this bill. His statement:

“The bill was introduced to shore up election integrity after citizen concerns arose in Racine County as a result of paid, out-of-state recall circulators, some with past criminal histories, being brought into the state in an attempt to undo a local election.

Some of these circulators were later accused of forgeries. About two-thirds of the 114 people who collected signatures to force the ultimately unsuccessful recall against Assembly Speaker Robin Vos were from out of state. The Wisconsin Election Commission referred numerous circulators in that recall to the Racine County DA. Most of the people named by WEC have out-of-state addresses and one had no address listed.

The bill passed with bipartisan support on both floors of the Legislature and went through a thorough committee process with no one registering or testifying opposed to it.

It was modeled on other states which have residency requirements” on election integrity matters.

We could stop with the euphemism "student-athlete" because almost no FB and basketball players are students in any sense of the word.

Once you do that, it's clear the current college sports industry has nothing to do with college and should be ended.
Require that the starting roster of any college team has to match the test scores of the general student body and require them to maintain actual academic eleigibility.

The NFL and NBA should establish minor leagues like the NHL and MLB.

An almost 3000 sq ft house in Iowa is not forsaking civilization. And 1 bathroom is not an issue. We have what's considered a big family now and have been living with 1 full bath for a while.

You'd be living better than probably 90% of the world's population in this house.

It may not be for everyone, but if you can't bring yourself to live outside a major metro, don't whine about expensive housing. Cities have been expensive for a long time.
