A flâneur (pronounced flah-NUR) is a French noun that refers to an idle stroller, lounger, or urban explorer. It describes someone who wanders city streets aimlessly but observantly, soaking in the sights, sounds, and societal rhythms of modern urban life
Opening in 1835, the St. Charles Line is the oldest, continuously operating Streetcar line in the world.
In 1926 New Orleans’ streetcar network reached its peak at 26 lines!

Unironically, this is what parking minimums have done to US cities. Every car requires ~300SF to store and sits empty for most of the time. So instead of housing, parks, businesses, narrow, interstitial spaces and places to walk and bike, we get miles of asphalt and empty cars.
