macOS doesn't ship with an RDP server. So I built one.
Remotr lets you remote into your Mac from Windows using the built-in Remote Desktop β zero client install. Add @Tailscale and reach it from anywhere.

I'm preparing v1.0 with the long-promised unattended access after a Mac reboot or logout.
I'm also continuing to investigate and fix existing bugs.

@ikechukwuokalia For audio, keeping latency and stream timing stable across reconnects was harder than codec negotiation. Overall, though, camera stream renegotiation and recovery were the most difficult parts of the entire redirection stack.
Hi X π
Iβm solo dev behind Remotr β a native RDP server for Mac.
I just shipped a big round of updates:
π€ audio & microphone
π¨οΈ printer
π· webcam
Connect from Windows using the in RDP client, no extra software needed on their end.

@AshrafXplains Definitely the webcam. Camera redirection was the most frustrating stream negotiation, H.264 recovery, reconnects, and the macOS camera extension all had to work together reliably
@JCMAppStudio Thnaks! Itβs handled at the RDP protocol level no Windows driver. Remotr receives the redirected stream and exposes it through a macOS camera extension.
@thsottiaux I'm using Sign in with ChatGPT and my weekly usage reset this morning, but today's token consumption differs drastically from yesterday's β I would normally have over 90% of my quota remaining at this point, yet only 76% is left, which seems abnormal.
Vibe coding era: your remote agent breaks something and SSH just isnβt enough anymore.
When you need eyes on the actual screen β Remotr gets you RDP into your Mac, instantly.
