I assessed how I felt about my friends for myself. I thought, hmm I don’t need them for any of their talents. I love them as they are. Other folks are associates, colleagues and collaborators and that’s ok.

I got the answer, it’s empowering and all that jazz.

@Theholisticpsyc Then friends and partners. When I met my wife they noticed I would flinch every time I asked for my needs to be met or forgot something. Took a while for me to be reassure that I was safe enough to share my feelings without the expectation of harm.

The “good girl” for me was reinforced by physical violence and emotional violence when I stepped out of line, by my parents, relatives…
