🐳 Weekend Edition: HOLD THE LINE
Crypto took a beating this past week due to the trifecta of high interest rates, quantum fears, and hacks.
It’s almost fitting that crypto had a rough week on the anniversary of 10/10.
The last two months have been euphoric, and people are worried the party is already over.
Don’t worry, it’s not.
We also need to have some perspective.
In a bear market, prices remain depressed for months on end. It’s painful and boring, but if you follow the four-year cycle, you’ll know that’s just how bear markets work.
I think people tend to romanticize bull runs during bear markets, imagining them as a time when coins can only go up.
While there are short periods when that seems true, bull runs are much more nuanced than that.
Crypto is still one of the most volatile asset classes in the world.
Even during a bull run, that volatility leads to short periods of sharp corrections.
If anything, there’s more of an incentive to sell because giving back profits hurts.
People often say they like risk, but I find that to be a half-baked statement.
What they really mean is that they like risk when it swings to the upside.
Most people don't actually have the courage to sit through major price swings.
It’s hard to go from being up 20% to being down 20% in a matter of hours.
On the other hand, if you like the outsized returns crypto offers, you should be grateful for this volatility.
The fact that most people can’t sit through it is part of why those who can stand to be so handsomely rewarded.
To sum up, remember that a bull run isn’t just straight up and to the right.
There will be times when the market experiences major corrections, but that doesn’t mean the bull run is over.
If you have conviction in your bags, these corrections can be a good opportunity to buy more.
