y’all don’t understand sexyy red cuz y’all didn’t go to a high school where a girl wearing cookie monster pajamas and eating hot cheetos would get into a fight at 7:45am
La Russell didn’t sell out to Roc Nation.
Yes he criticized them for a weak offer.
Then he Invested in his brand Platforms, owned audience , IP , infrastructure & scale.
He campaigned & built the leverage he needed. Without institutional backing he was going hit a ceiling.
Once the moat was real, institutions like Roc Nation didn’t own him, they just bought in.
Selling out is going against your core values.
La Russel always wanted a deal.. a deal that valued & respected his worth & potential not one devalued his art & character.
If you say “I know I’m great” you’re showing ppl that confidence can be self generated…which implies ANYONE could develop that level of conviction if they put in the work etc. Most people don’t like that implication tho cuz it exposes their own lack of self belief as an internal problem not an external one (scary). People who believe confidence should be sourced externally always have an excuse as to why they’re not confident. It shields them from facing the REAL truth which is “I don’t believe in myself because I personally have no internal foundation for it.”
Mario: The most refined kart racer ever made. The movement tech in that game is STILL being figured out which speaks volumes.
Sonic: Changing tracks instantly mid race is probably the coolest visual I've seen in any kart racer ever. So sick.
Kirby: Crystal Meth The Game

Vince Staples has always been consistent on the point of separating art from commerce. Love the point he made here tho.
