Preventing @UNRWA to operate might sabotage the #Gaza#ceasefire, failing once again hopes of people who have gone through unspeakable suffering.
Only in the first 3 days of the ceasefire, @UNRWA brought in food for 1 million people. Our teams already distributed food to around 300,000 people including in northern Gaza.
The ceasefire is a window of hope. It allows the Agency to bring basic supplies stuck for months across the region: tents, mattresses & blankets.
Commercial supplies are a must to reduce the dependency of people on humanitarian aid.
Meanwhile, with guns falling silent, invisible scars are surfacing. This is due to immense trauma of 15 long months of war.
Since the war began, UNRWA mental health experts and specialists reached more than half a million boys & girls.
The work of UNRWA must continue in Gaza + across the occupied Palestinian territory.
For those hoping that the LA fires will lead to a climate reckoning, I have bad news. There's no robust link between climate disasters and low-carbon policymaking. *Weather can't do the work of politics.*
If anything, tendency is toward a defensive "fortress of solitude."
