@TVietor08 When you build a back door for the good guys, the bad guys always figure out how to use it. Just baffling that people don’t understand this and still argue for, for example, back doors to encryption.
@hankgreen Probably still Ze Frank, even though that was a long time ago that he was really active and I was deep in it. Now it’s probably Dan @maklelan. Definitely not @hankgreen or @sportswithjohn nosiree
@jkimballcook Yeah but the right doesn’t actually want any more religious freedom than they have. They just want to restrict others from criticizing them for their abhorrent and/or non-mainstream views.
@aarikdanielsen @WildPinkNYC Also, John is the nicest guy. Saw the band in June and they played a bunch of new stuff, and I couldn’t help but buy too much merch. Super stoked for Dulling the Horns.
@aarikdanielsen @WildPinkNYC Title track on this record is my single favorite song that has come out in my adulthood which at this point goes back a long way. And when I get that fragile kind of feeling, nothing hits like an album that ends repeating “I don’t know what happens next”
Hey listen to Egg by Riggings (@OhGoodItsAlex). Better yet buy yourself a copy, also go on their Bandcamp and buy a copy of Themselves and Bile and Bone and Big Electric Fan. Great records. Best accessory (quality chipp clipp). They’re all good. Themselves is a masterpiece.
@the_tomsters I the case of Mbappe today it’s probably just because he has a broken nose and he wasn’t anywhere close to his normal self. But often it’s tactical. Take off a forward when you have a lead to protect the lead. And so that forward is a fresh as possible for the next match. Etc etc
@Steven_Hyden this Ahem record is great. Thank you for the rec. Calls to mind one of my other fav patio records in the last few years which is Big Nothing’s Dog Hours. Which may have also come at your recommendation and which I still spin on the reg.
@JohnAllenBain@sweatscience@den_run_ai@ChrisMinson I just felt wrecked. Could barely even get into that higher gear, especially in the latter half of a run. At least it was just a vacation and I wasn’t trying to race. 🤷
@JohnAllenBain@sweatscience@den_run_ai@ChrisMinson I’m from Phoenix and just spent a week in Boston where it was mid-90s and v high humidity and can attest: at low effort I could spend all day that worst Boston heat. Barely bothered me. But had nowhere near normal threshold or high intensity endurance.
@aarikdanielsen I love Scott’s music so much, and since he died, I can’t really listen to it. The odd song here and there is okay, but it just draws out too much of my own darkness. Makes it hard to want to do anything but lie in bed alone, and there I can’t find the gashes of light.
@en_cohen The thing about Public Strain is that it’s one of my 5 or 10 favorite albums of the last 15 years or so. It’s ok if you never top a monument.
But I do really like the new Cindy Lee record.
@michaelbarthel “…Glorb who exclusively releases music using AI replications of SpongeBob SquarePants characters’ voices” honestly sounds like Stefon describing a performance at the city’s hottest new club
@CaprcrnIscariot How could you pick one of those names? Each one is better than the last! Anyway I’d like to think I’m Flefloe Stankseloe, but I get the feeling me more of a Waling Stuncronchee Flong.
@Steven_Hyden@GoldenApplesUSA I should add that just because I don’t like their tunes I really do hope they get huge and I’m happy they exist because obviously people are digging them and people digging the stuff they wanna dig is just the best, and I’m sure they’re great people. Also I’m pretty old.
Jonas,
Primoz,
& Sepp
Those three coming across the line together was so sweet. Best thing in sports all year. They seem so happy and sincere when they congratulate and help one another.
