Every campaign that competes against NYC-DSA, no matter their ideology, even if their candidate is an immigrant/child of immigrants, will eventually deploy lazy nativist arguments that quickly slip into attacks on immigrant New Yorkers. They have nothing else to offer voters.
@Ihatef23 I know! Which is why he shouldn’t be pulling the ladder up and saying stuff like this. Coming to NYC in the 60s 70s or 80s doesn’t make you inherently better than someone coming to live here today.
honestly a disgusting thing to say and from someone running as an advocate for immigrants. New York nativism is a hop skip and a jump away from full throated nativism.
It's New NYC vs. Old NYC in NY-13. Today, volunteers for @DarializaforNY gathered in Morningside Park before going out to canvas while @EspaillatNY rallied w/supporters further uptown. He vowed to send newer residents in his district "back home packing wherever they came from,”
In his first encyclical, Pope Leo XIV quotes J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.”

@madmart33363545 if she was effective she would have got the votes to overturn the veto. she didn't. instead she's spent months trying to get weaker and weaker versions of this bill passed instead of fighting for something worthwhile.
I honestly can’t believe that Julie Menin would rather spend February through June using her political capital and making deals to win a concession to the far right, Zionists, and the NYPD instead of doing something real for New Yorkers.
